Desperate Debra® used on CBS Television show "The Doctors"

Adam,Rouilly was delighted to have had our AR58 Desperate Debra® simulator featured on an episode of the CBS Television show "The Doctors", which aired this Monday 13 January 2014.

The Doctors is an Emmy Award-winning series which educates and empowers viewers by tackling a range of topical issues about healthy living.  Dr Jennifer Ashton, Co-Host of the Dr Doctors, used the Desperate Debra® simulator to demonstrate how an emergency caeserean is performed when obstetricians are confronted with fetal head impaction, in a segment pertaining to birth and labour.

The AR58 Desperate Debra® model was develoed in partnership with Dr Graham Tydeman, Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology - NHS Fife, Professor Andy Shennan - Professor of Obstetrics, and Annette Briley – Consultant Midwife, Clinical Trial Manager, Maternal and Fetal Research Unit, Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital.

The model was conceived around a gap in a training requirement to educate and prepare both new and experienced clinicians for an impacted fetal head and associated emergency caeserean - something which affects up to 20,000 births per year in the United Kingdom alone.
